Frequently Asked
Questions:
How do I report a claim?
Contact your local Alfa Alliance agent (contact information
at
Find An Agent) or report your claim directly to us at
800-394-8642. You may also use the internet at
Claims Information for non-emergency claims. Internet
reports should not be used for claims involving complicated
issues such as bodily injury, damage sustained by others,
business losses, claims in which you are forced to leave your
home, or the total loss of your vehicle. These complex losses
require immediate attention to resolve promptly. Our
after-hours report line at 800-394-8642, Extension 425, is
available 24 hours a day.
What information do I need to report my claim?
Be prepared to give the name of the insured, policy number, date
of the loss, what caused the loss, your contact information and
the severity of your loss.
I
don't have all the information needed to report my claim. What
should I do?
Contact your Alfa Alliance agent or the company anyway. By
immediately contacting your agent or us, our representatives can
help you start the claims process, or help you better understand
or obtain the required information.
How does the claim process work?
Once the claim is taken by the agent, it is assigned to an Alfa
Alliance claim handler. The adjuster will contact you to assess
your damages and write an estimate or ask you to provide an
estimate. If the adjuster is able to write the estimate upon
inspection of your damage, you may receive a check right then
for your covered loss. If not, Alfa Alliance will mail you a
check. The check may be made out to you, you and your
contractor/repair facility, or to you and your mortgage
company/lien holder.
What can I do to make the claims process easier?
Gather as much information as possible, report your loss as soon
as possible, make temporary repairs, and contact repair agencies
and ask them for repair estimates.
How long will it take to settle my claim?
The length of time it takes to settle a claim varies according
to the severity of the loss and the number of losses Alfa
Alliance receives. Every effort will be made to inspect your
loss as soon as possible and to resolve the claim within a
reasonable time frame.
If property was stolen from my home, what do I need to do?
File a police report immediately for the theft. For insurance
purposes, it is beneficial to provide any photographs you may
have of the item(s) and provide the proof of purchase or
receipt, serial number, ID number or model number of the item(s).

What is a deductible?
A deductible is the amount of the loss which you are responsible
for paying before benefits from Alfa Alliance Insurance are
payable.
I
can't live in my home. Will Alfa Alliance Insurance pay for
temporary living arrangements?
Yes, if your policy provides Loss of Use/ Additional Living
Expense coverage. Also, the reason you can’t live in your home
must be covered under your policy and your home must be
uninhabitable. Check with your Alfa Alliance agent to make sure
your policy provides this coverage and to better understand the
provisions and limits of this coverage.
If I have to relocate, what records should I keep?
You should keep receipts on all your expenditures related to
your loss of use such as hotel and restaurant receipts.
Should I make temporary repairs to my home?
Yes, you are to make any temporary repairs that will prevent
additional damage to your home. Maintain receipts on
repairs such as covering broken windows and holes in the roof.
Is flood damage covered under my policy?
Flood damage is not covered under your dwelling/homeowner's
policy. However, it may be covered under your automobile policy
if you have comprehensive/"other than collision" coverage on
your automobile. Flood insurance for homes is administered
through the National Flood Insurance Program. Ask your Alfa
Alliance agent for more information.
How will I receive the money?
If the adjuster is able to write the estimate, you may receive a
check immediately from the adjuster. If not, Alfa Alliance
Insurance will mail you a check. The check may be made out to
you, you and your contractor/repair facility, or to you and your
mortgage company/lien holder.
Whom can I call if I have a question about my claim?
If you have any questions regarding your claim or any repairs,
please contact your Alfa Alliance agent or the adjuster handling
your claim. If an immediate response is required, please
contact our Richmond office at 804-346-1900 or 800-394-8642
